Christmas Tag from Nana

Sorry this is so belated Nana...

1. What is your one favorite dish to see on the table at Christmas dinner?
We don't have a Christmas dinner. We go over to my Grandma's house for brunch and stay there all day (opening presents, etc.). But my favorite dish for Christmas brunch is the sausage.

2. Do you have a Nativity scene or a creche?
We have a plastic resin nativity scene that we got a few years ago from Costco. Our china one had started to break... We'd had it since I was little.

3. What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Well, I have several, so I'll list my top three... It's a Wonderful Life, The Christmas Carol (2009; animated), White Christmas.

4. If you and your family could spend this Christmas in another country, where would you go?
British Isles.

5. Does your grandmother usually knit you something for Christmas, or does she give you something different -- say, a Wii?
My paternal grandmother normally gives each of us grand kids an ornament (my collection is getting quite large), and then she gives each person a gift or she just gives the whole family one large gift... like a membership to a museum or zoo. Then my maternal grandmother generally gives each of us kids about 3 gifts. This year I got a vintage sewing machine from the 1960 (all metal, industrial grade... love it!), Mint Frangos (it's special chocolate made by Macy's... pricey but delicious), and stuff to go with the sewing machine.

6. Have you ever gone out of the house wearing a reindeer headband? What about a Santa hat?
I haven't worn either in the house or out (at least not that I remember).

7.  Do you usually make or buy your Christmas gifts?
We used to buy, but us kids make them now. It's gotten too expensive.

8. When do you set up your Christmas decorations?
Fairly soon after Thanksgiving... sometimes a day or two after.

9. What kind of activities does your church usually have at Christmas?
Caroling at our church... another church we visit every once in a while has a Christmas Eve service.

10. Did you ever believe in Santa Claus as a child?
No.

11. Which of the Gospels gives your favorite account of the Christmas story?
Luke.

12. Have you ever acted in a Christmas pageant?
I almost did once... and I don't remember being (or almost) in any others beside that.

13. Do you buy Christmas presents for your pets?
No. We can't afford it for one thing, and two, it would be kind of humanizing them and pets are pets.

14. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Going over to my Grandma's house, and reading the Christmas story.
Photobucket

Thanks for joining in! Fun answers. Love two out of three of those Christmas movies...sorry but I couldn't even bare to finish watching the 2009 Christmas Carol. The Muppet's Christmas Carol and Patrick Stewart's are the *only* way to go. Sorry...that a sore spot for me:D
